Focus of the role

As a Corporate Development Manager, you will play a key role within the Strategy and Corporate Development team sitting under Telstra InfraCo’s Infrastructure Strategy, Performance and Risk (ISPR) function. Your focus will help shape Telstra InfraCo’s long-term growth through developing impactful growth strategies, evaluating investment opportunities and executing on transactions.

The Corporate Development team looks to maximise value of Telstra InfraCo’s assets and pursue bolder opportunities. You will tackle challenging projects and be exposed to a rapidly changing digital infrastructure market, driven by AI and automation, and different types of partnership models including both commercial and M&A opportunities. 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the execution of Telstra InfraCo’s multi-year strategy and growth roadmap aligned to Telstra's Connected Future 30 strategy.
  • Conduct detailed industry, market and competitor analysis to identify strategic opportunities in digital infrastructure across fibre and connectivity, data centre, edge compute, etc.
  • Assist with the origination, execution and integration of growth and portfolio management opportunities including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures or divestments.
  • Collaborate with and present to multiple stakeholders, including peer group and senior executives, seeking support, direction, and buy-in to generate and execute on solutions to complex problems and/or remove organisational barriers as required. This may include working closely with Telstra InfraCo’s Strategic Partnership team.
  • Leverage your analytical skills to undertake high-quality quantitative (including valuation modelling) and qualitative analysis, to assist senior management and team members to develop short- and long-term strategies, test business hypotheses, understand issues as well as provide insights to key performance indicators to achieve strategic objectives and deliver business initiatives.
  • Lead the execution of transactions including project management, financial modelling, negotiation of terms with external partners or stakeholders, preparing communications for senior leaders within the organisation and coordinating with business functions.
  • Prepare decision making materials for the CEO, their leadership team and the Board (e.g., papers, financial models etc) to drive senior engagement and support to achieve Telstra InfraCo’s strategic objectives.

About You

  • 4+ years of prior experience in corporate development, infrastructure investment or mergers & acquisitions from investment banking, consulting, funds management or other medium to large corporates.
  • Proven experience with successfully managing and completing M&A transactions.
  • Strong commercial, financial modelling and due diligence capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and structured thinking to provide insights and assess growth opportunities and impacts.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to support presentation materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills with ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Undergraduate qualifications in Business, Commerce or Finance.
