THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Marketing Manager, Surgical. Reporting into the VP of Surgery, Australia, you will lead the strategy and execution for the Surgical BU for Australia. You will develop a sustainable growth roadmap with a focus on Thoracic and Bariatric strategy, strengthen marketing and sales execution, build strong customer and internal stakeholder relationships, manage commercial/financial/HR/logistics targets, and deliver on budget and forecast.

You will be highly adept at providing strategic direction, effective management and leadership, as well as fostering an innovative and broadly collaborative culture. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and shape the Australia strategy for the Surgical BU, translating global direction into a clear, sustainable growth roadmap.
  • Analyse the AU market (public & private hospitals), training pathways, market size, growth and competitive landscape to identify current and future opportunities.
  • Convert long‑term strategy into annual sales and marketing plans, tactical roadmaps and KPI‑driven execution for the field.
  • Manage regulatory, reimbursement, NPI, CAPEX/OPEX, pricing and tender/contract processes to ensure commercial viability and profitable growth.
  • Lead, coach and develop the marketing team and build strong cross‑functional partnerships with Sales, Prof Ed, Supply Chain, Finance, Medical Affairs and Regulatory.
  • Regularly engage senior customers, surgeons and key opinion leaders to validate insights, drive adoption and protect external brand equity.
  • Deliver excellent customer satisfaction through proactive support, complaint resolution, tailored tender solutions and systematic feedback loops.
  • Monitor performance, benchmark against peers, and deliver or exceed agreed forecast, budget and business plan.

ABOUT YOU

  • Medical Device Marketing and New Product Launch experience.
  • Digital Marketing Experience.
  • Extensive experience leading a team
  • Tertiary qualifications at Degree level (Business or Science discipline preferred)
  • Sales experience
  • Experience in risk taking and managing strategic bets
  • Experience in shaping category launches
  • Capital selling/marketing a distinct advantage
  • Understanding of the Australian healthcare landscape
  • Expert in Competitive Awareness and Collaboration/Stakeholder Management
  • Strong Customer Focus, Product Knowledge, and Commercial Acumen
  • High Capacity to Learn and Sense of Urgency
