About this role
Are you ready to take the lead in payroll excellence? We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our People & Culture team and ensure accurate, efficient payroll services across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. This is a permanent role with flexible work arrangements, including 1–2 days per week in our Newcastle hub.

What you’ll do:
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple entities
Ensure compliance with legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax
Provide expert advice and resolve complex payroll queries
Mentor and support team members while fostering best practice
About you
You’re a payroll expert who thrives on accuracy and efficiency. You love solving problems, supporting others, and making sure everything runs smoothly. You’re confident interpreting awards and agreements and enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within a medium to large organisation
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements)
Experience interpreting awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Experience with payroll systems (IChris/Chris21 or Workday is a bonus)
