The opportunity

We have an exciting new Senior Privacy Lead, Australia-Pacific (AUSPAC) role that will support on our approach, management, and roadmap for privacy and responsible data use across the AUSPAC team and as part of the Global Privacy Team at QBE.

This role, while supporting the AUSPAC Division, will be a key member of, and have opportunities for privacy risk management and uplift with, the broader Global Privacy Team and will contribute greatly to our efforts to continue to grow and shape our privacy strategy, approach and priorities across QBE.

Your new role

  • Support the development of the strategy, roadmap and priorities for privacy at AUSPAC 

  • Providing expert, informed and pragmatic advice to the business on privacy risk, controls and responsible data use requirements and considerations

  • Support the effective implementation of Group privacy, data and AI Policies and approaches into the AUSPAC business to drive consistency across the enterprise and ensure management of AUSPAC risks

  • Support on OAIC related matters, particularly complaints and incidents

  • Supporting the ongoing efforts to mature QBE’s privacy risk management for teams

  • Overseeing key privacy governance requirements including PIAs, privacy incidents and assessments, retention management, personal information flows, transparency requirements, regulatory compliance and other such activities

  • Supporting the development of meaningful reporting, metrics and insights to the business, senior executives and Group Head of Privacy on the management of privacy

  • Be part of a Global Privacy Team and represent AUSPAC at relevant forums, working groups, councils and working cross collaboratively with other Divisional privacy teams.

  • Supporting efforts to build and maintain strong partnerships and collaboration with other relevant data functions including Chief Data Office, Cyber, Technology, AI, Legal and Risk and Compliance teams.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a robust background in advising on privacy risk, PIAs, managing privacy incidents, training and awareness, data ethics and navigating new technologies, particularly AI.

Success in this role requires deep subject matter expertise, experience working in large and complex organisations, and strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills. Our ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-focused, and able to engage effectively with diverse teams.

You will demonstrate exceptional knowledge in privacy risks and requirements, with the ability to prioritise, triage, and manage privacy needs efficiently. Strong time management skills and the ability to operate autonomously are essential. While experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous, it is not a requirement.
