Anthropic plans to expand to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a new office in Sydney. This joins its other Asia-Pacific offices in Tokyo, Seoul and Bengaluru.
The company is a public benefit institution that specializes in AI safety and research and is responsible for developing the Claude chatbot. Anthropic currently works with several Australian and New Zealand organizations, like Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Quantium and Canva.
It plans to hire a team in Sydney to better serve the company’s unique AI ecosystems and deepen its engagement with Australian institutions. The company’s executive team will visit Australia in late March to meet with customers and policymakers.
“Establishing a local presence will help us to develop strong partnerships in ANZ and ensure Claude is built with respect for the unique goals, opportunities, and challenges of the region.” Chris Ciauri, Anthropic’s managing director of international, said in a statement.
