Largest Companies in Sydney to Know

Atlassian is a software company that makes products for work management, software development and service management. Its portfolio includes a number of products including Jira, Confluence, Loom and Trello. Atlassian’s Sydney workforce is made up of nearly 3,000 people, serving hundreds of thousands of global customers and over 10 million monthly software users.  

 

Commonwealth Bank is Australia’s largest financial institution. It offers a full suite of traditional banking services, including personal, business and institutional banking, superannuation, insurance products and brokerage services. Managing over $1 trillion AUD in assets, the company employs more than 50,000 team members.

 

BHP is a mining company that holds the world’s highest market capitalization in the industry. It mines copper, iron ore and metallurgic coal, and is developing its capacity to produce potash, a more sustainable potassium-based energy source mined from soil. Over 90,000 team members work for BHP, which has been in business since 1851.

 

Telstra is the telecommunications company that most Australians rely on for broadband internet, mobile phone service and landline telephone connectivity. Its media brand, Telstra Media, offers a range of media forms and genres, including scripted shows, sports and reality TV. Telstra’s team is made up of more than 30,000 people who provide services to over 20 million mobile customers.

 

WiseTech Global makes software for the logistics sector. Its CargoWise logistics product manages complex itineraries and transactions for freight transportation, with features for warehousing, international e-commerce, parcel post and customs and compliance. WiseTech Global has reported total annual revenue in excess of $800 million in recent years.
