Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 17 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.
Role Information:
Using Unreal Engine, you will develop and implement real-time VFX and cinematic content for our 3D animation productions, while supporting technical fixes and contributing to our real-time pipeline.
This contract role requires experience developing VFX in Unreal Engine and integrating DCC tools (such as Houdini) into real-time workflows.
Your duties will include:
- Work within a cinematic pipeline, leverage Sequencer and Unreal Engine's cinematic tools for the development of our shows and related media.
- Develop VFX solutions for cinematics in Unreal Engine including the use of Blueprints, Niagara Systems and other real-time tools available.
- Use Houdini to develop procedural solutions, and implement them into a real-time cinematic workflow.
- Have a technical understanding of Unreal Engine's lighting systems (Lumen, Raytracing) to aid in both creative and technical lighting fixes.
- Development of efficient, procedural solutions for the use in Crowd animation and any other technical animation needs.
- Render shots using Movie Render Queue, and Movie Render Graph.
- Problem solve and support in applying technical fixes across disciplines including materials, lighting, assets and animation.
- Collaborate with production, animation, and engineering teams to support pipeline efficiency and solve technical challenges.
A successful candidate will have:
- Proven hands-on experience using Unreal Engine in a cinematic or animation pipeline, not gameplay-only projects.
- Strong real-time VFX experience in Unreal Engine including Niagara systems, blueprint-driven VFX or tools, real-time optimization considerations.
- Working production experience with Sequencer and Unreal’s cinematic toolset.
- Experience integrating Houdini workflows into Unreal Engine.
- Technical understanding of Unreal lighting systems, including Lumen and/or Ray Tracing.
- Experience rendering final shots from Unreal Engine.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills across disciplines, including materials, lighting, assets, animation, and performance.
- Experience working in a production environment with deadlines, reviews, and iteration cycles.
Bonus Skills:
- An understanding or experience with the arts, animation, gaming, and/or ‘internet nerd’ culture.
- Be extremely organized and have a strong work ethic.
