Mintel is seeking an accomplished Account Director to manage, retain, and grow a portfolio of strategic FMCG client accounts across Australia and New Zealand. As the day-to-day commercial partner for your clients, you will build trusted stakeholder relationships, increase adoption of Mintel's products and services, and deliver strong renewal and expansion outcomes.
This senior individual contributor role is responsible for managing a growing portfolio and will work closely with internal experts to solve client needs, demonstrate measurable value, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain and grow relationships across assigned accounts through proactive communication, consistent follow-up, and close attention to detail.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for client needs, strategic discussions, and commercial opportunities.
- Negotiate and close renewal and expansion agreements while delivering strong retention and performance.
- Build relationships with new champions, decision-makers, and users across client organizations to strengthen engagement and reduce retention risk.
- Deliver regular business reviews and creative, data-informed solutions that demonstrate return on investment and support renewal and account enrichment.
- Create and execute territory and account-level business plans aligned with portfolio growth objectives.
- Monitor renewal timelines, account health, usage, and commercial risks, taking timely action where needed.
- Maintain accurate account, opportunity, and forecasting information and provide reliable updates to sales leadership.
- Partner effectively with Mintel subject matter experts and internal teams to deliver solutions that address client priorities.
- Develop deep expertise across Mintel products and services, as well as the FMCG industry, consumer trends, and market dynamics.
- Achieve or exceed annual retention, renewal, and revenue growth targets.
Who We Are Looking For:
- At least 5 years of experience in account management, customer success, sales, business development, or a related client-facing commercial role.
- A strong record of managing and growing strategic client relationships and achieving retention, renewal, and revenue targets.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing complex renewal cycles.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to identify growth opportunities and translate client needs into practical business solutions.
- Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- An analytical approach and the ability to use data, client outcomes, and usage insights to demonstrate value and ROI.
- CRM platform knowledge and experience.
Preferred Background:
- Experience supporting clients in the FMCG industry and an understanding of the sector’s business challenges, stakeholders, and opportunities.
- Experience in market research, consumer insights, data and analytics, subscription services, or SaaS.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

- Client engagement, product adoption, and breadth of stakeholder relationships.
