The Role

Proofpoint is seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Account Director – FSI to lead strategic growth across the Financial Services sector in Australia and New Zealand. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on driving large, complex enterprise deals, expanding executive relationships, and delivering material revenue growth within tier 1 and tier 2 financial institutions.

The successful candidate will bring deep domain credibility within FSI, a strong track record of selling complex SaaS and/or consulting solutions, and the ability to operate effectively at C-level. This individual is expected to ramp quickly, leverage an existing network, and materially impact pipeline and revenue within the first two quarters.

This role will be based in Sydney, Australia.

Your day-to-day

Revenue Growth & Account Leadership

  • Own and drive revenue growth across a defined portfolio of strategic FSI accounts (banks, insurers, wealth/fintech)
  • Develop and execute multi-year account plans aligned to Proofpoint’s platform strategy
  • Identify, qualify, and close large, complex deals (multi-product, multi-stakeholder)
  • Consistently exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets

Executive Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with CISO, CIO, CRO, and other senior stakeholders
  • Lead high-value conversations around cyber risk, compliance, and digital transformation.
  • Position Proofpoint as a strategic partner, not just a vendor

Pipeline Development

  • Generate net-new opportunities through proactive prospecting, network leverage, and industry presence
  • Maintain a strong, predictable pipeline (3–5x coverage) with clear deal progression
  • Partner with marketing, alliances, and SDR teams to accelerate demand generation.

Deal Execution

  • Lead complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, procurement processes, and regulatory considerations
  • Coordinate internal resources (SEs, product, legal, exec sponsors) to drive deal closure
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts aligned to business objectives.

Market & Industry Leadership

  • Maintain deep understanding of FSI trends (regulation, cyber threats, digital banking, risk frameworks)
  • Represent Proofpoint at industry events and forums
  • Provide market feedback to influence product and go-to-market strategy.

Accountability

  • Delivery against annual quota and strategic growth targets within FSI segment
  • Expansion of footprint within top-tier financial institutions
  • Quality and accuracy of pipeline forecasting
  • Strength and depth of executive relationships across assigned accounts
  • Speed to productivity (expected impact within first 3–6 months)

What you bring to the team

Core Experience

  • 10+ years of enterprise sales experience in SaaS, cybersecurity, or consulting, with a strong focus on FSI
  • Demonstrated success selling into large financial institutions across ANZ
  • Proven track record of closing high-value, complex deals (7-figure+)
  • Experience navigating long sales cycles with multiple decision-makers.

Industry Expertise

  • Deep understanding of the FSI landscape (banking, insurance, regulatory environment)
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, risk, compliance, or adjacent technologies (essential)
  • Existing network of senior relationships within ANZ FSI

Performance Track Record

  • Clear, data-backed evidence of consistent quota overachievement
  • History of building and executing strategic account plans that deliver measurable growth
  • Ability to demonstrate impact through metrics (e.g., deal size, growth %, new logos, expansion revenue).

Capabilities

  • Executive presence with the ability to influence at C-level
  • Highly commercial, strategic thinker with strong deal acumen
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate autonomously in a high-performance environment
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

Personal Attributes

  • Credible, respected, and well-known within the FSI ecosystem
  • High urgency and bias for action - able to ramp quickly and deliver early wins
  • Resilient and disciplined in managing complex, competitive sales environments
  • Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex cyber/security narratives
