Overview of the Role:
The role of the Accounting Analyst is to support the Senior Financial Accountants with month end close procedures, related regulatory reporting and all other aspects of financial reporting for the RGA Australian and New Zealand business entities (ANZ business). The Accounting Analyst also coordinate the accounts payable function with the regional processing centre based in Hong Kong (HK AP)
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Preparation of month end account reconciliations and reports for two service entities. Review and comment on variance analysis for monthly financials.
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register, calculation and processing of depreciation and completion of reconciliations to the balance sheet.
- Complete Journal, accruals and bank reconciliations.
- Assist in the completion of BAS and NZ GST returns Completion of quarterly and annual ABS surveys.
- Support the Senior Financial Accountant as required with the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Monitor and maintain the cashflow and anticipate cash flow requirements.
- Liaison and co-ordination of the accounts payable function with the regional processing centre based in Hong Kong (HK AP).
- Manage the corporate credit card facility, ensuring compliance by card holders with the corporate policies for all expenses.
- Maintenance of the expense and travel policies.
- Ensuring expenses are disbursed in line with corporate policies.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of work experience preferably in the Financial Services sector, specifically in the Life Reinsurance industry.
- The person will need to have a degree in either Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and is completing a professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA).
- Well organised and can organise around deadlines or competing priorities
- A highly motivated individual who has a pro-active work approach and be able to effectively prioritise and make things happen. ‘Can do’ attitude.
- The person will be able to work harmoniously within the team environment and be able to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
- A clear communicator, with good presentation and PC skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Well organised and can organise around deadlines or competing priorities
