About the role:
We are looking for an emerging leader in Accounting and Compliance to help scale our finance operations, processes and accounting as well as manage our reporting obligations as the business continues its rapid growth trajectory.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance of the SKUTOPIA Group, you will own everything from the processing of accounting transactions to scaling our processes and controls, month end reporting and external reporting and compliance. You will coach a high performing team of 3 and be part of setting up the strategy and goals for your team working closely with the Head of Finance as we continue to support the business and its leaders.

Role Description
Looking after the day to day finance operations of the SKUTOPIA group making sure that all our accounting is compliant with AASBs and all our internal and external reporting deadlines are met.
In your role you will be expected to:
1. Take ownership of all our operating cycles in support of the month end process
- Manage a team of 3 to ensure all day to day tasks are completed on time
- Implement and maintain good working practices and project management
- Make sure the books continue to be closed by working day 5 and reported to all stakeholders by working day 10
2. Implement and maintain our accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure we have a full suite of AASB compliant accounting policies
- Up-skill the team and educate where required
- Make sure all policies are reflected in our accounting processes and day to day activities
- Prepare reports that are compliant with all our policies and ready to be reported to external stakeholders
3. Own all our compliance activities making sure everything is reported and paid on time
- Taxation will be brought in house and you will make sure that our monthly and quarterly filings are lodged and paid in a timely manner
- You will review our current engagements with service providers and recommend a desired target operating model for the finance team
- You will own the grant process and make sure books and records are available for audit in line with grant acquittal schedules, making sure we receive cash on time
- You will run an audit tender process to appoint an external auditor
- You will own and program manage the annual audit process
4. Improve and maintain accounting processes and controls
- You will build processes that are suitable for a high growth company
- You will make sure our processes scale and lean towards automation and systemisation
- You will work with other teams in the business to make sure we provide a holistic solution
- You will implement light touch controls to ensure we build a culture of review whilst at the same time being nimble enough to enable us to continue moving quickly.
An ideal candidate will have the following skills:
- Strategic thinker - you are able to set the strategy and goals of your team and hold people accountable to delivery.
- Team player - you have a strong sense of who you are as a leader and how you will engage with and motivate a high performing team.
- Good stakeholder management and an ability to assess the right time / way to involve senior stakeholders in day to day work.
- Ability to work independently and roll up your sleeves when needed.
- A high level of commercial acumen with an ability to balance the commercial reality of running a business with the requirements of the finance team more broadly.
- Strong technical ability from an accounting craft perspective and a relevant qualification (CA or equivalent).
- Experience working in a high growth environment and excited by the opportunity to build and be responsible for a high performing finance team.
- Communication and influence - you will possess the ability to communicate clearly with a broad range of stakeholders and an ability to influence decision making.
