The Role

The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for allocation of payment and answering customer accounts related queries, including liaising with multiple business stakeholders and third parties.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • High volume daily allocation of debtor payments, including credit card and EFT payments.
  • Manage direct debit payments, queries, and registrations.
  • Answering customer accounts related queries, both over the telephone and via email.
  • Customer service responsibilities, including development and maintenance of strong relationships with clients and key internal stakeholders.
  • Resolve customer issues and queries in an efficient, timely and professional manner.
  • Manage monthly third-party billing platforms.
  • Maintaining customer accounts.
  • Contribute toward continuous system and process improvements within the team, documenting and distributing changes in a controlled fashion.
  • Assist the Accounts Receivable Team Leader in system improvement testing.
  • Ad hoc duties and prepare reports as required.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Aptitude at identifying discrepancies and seek out solutions
  • Ability to effectively manage time, set priorities and targets  
  • Demonstrated adaptability to change and ability to respond to challenges in a fast-paced environment 
  • Intermediate computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel (VLOOKUP’s)
  • Able to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
  • A flexible team player with exceptional customer service focus
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience within Accounts Receivable preferred.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to collections
  • Maintains a courteous and professional manner in all dealings
  • Courteous and professional in manner across all areas
