Agentic Design Lead, WPP Media Australia

As an Agentic Design Lead, you will sit at the intersection of AI strategy, workflow design, and team enablement – turning our client and agency needs into practical, governed AI agent use cases delivered through WPP Open and leading enterprise AI tooling.

This is a non-traditional, “tech-fluent” consulting role: you don’t need to be a deep engineer, but you must be exceptional at translating business problems into AI solutions, orchestrating the right experts, and embedding solutions into day-to-day marketing workflows.

You will work in close partnership with:

  • Clients (marketers and marketing ops leaders) to identify and prioritise high-value use cases for AI Agent deployment.
  • Data science, analytics consultants, and data engineers to deliver feasible, measurable, safe delivery.
  • WPP Open Product teams to shape Agent Hub adoption, governance, patterns, and roadmap alignment across WPP Media AU.
  • Internal WPP teams to drive adoption and change management

The Agentic Design Lead will play a critical role in ensuring WPP Media moves from fragmented AI experimentation to scaled, governed, commercially impactful AI adoption.

This role is central to embedding AI into how marketing is delivered, turning capability into competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Architect High-Value AI Use Cases & Workflow Change

Lead structured discovery with clients and internal teams to identify, size and prioritise AI agent opportunities across strategy, creative development, media planning/activation, analytics, reporting and marketing operations.

Translate business problems into clear agent blueprints, including:

  • Inputs and required context
  • Decision logic and reasoning patterns
  • Data/tool dependencies
  • Human-in-the-loop checkpoints
  • Governance and escalation paths
  • Success metrics and value definition

Ensure each agent use case is grounded in measurable commercial or operational value.

Design Workflow Integration (Not Just Chat Interfaces)

  • Embed agents into real workflows: briefing, planning, QA, reporting, approvals and optimisation, rather than positioning them as standalone tools.
  • Design repeatable workflow patterns that balance automation with expert oversight.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure solutions are usable, adopted and scalable.

Be the Bridge Between Client, Consulting & Product

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders: simplifying complex AI concepts into clear recommendations and pragmatic next steps.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration between consulting, data science, analytics and engineering teams.
  • Provide structured feedback to WPP Open product teams on adoption, friction points, governance needs and roadmap priorities.
  • Help transition successful bespoke agents into scalable Agent Hub assets.

Drive Measurable Value & Commercial Outcomes

  • Define and track value metrics such as time saved, throughput improvements, quality uplift, error reduction, decision confidence and performance impact.
  • Support commercial growth by identifying expansion opportunities and new AI-led service propositions.

Enable Responsible & Governed AI Adoption

  • Ensure all agents align with enterprise-grade privacy, data handling and responsible AI standards.
  • Design governance models that enable speed without compromising client safety or brand integrity.

What You'll Bring

Tech-Fluent Strategic Thinker

  • Background in consulting, advertising, marketing technology or strategy. Minimum 10 years.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity and structuring complex problems into actionable plans.
  • Strong understanding of modern marketing workflows and agency operating models.

AI-Confident (Without Being Deeply Technical)

  • Strong working knowledge of AI patterns such as grounding/RAG, prompt and context design, structured outputs, multi-step reasoning, agent workflows and workflow automation.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with low-code, node-based and orchestration tools such as n8n, CoWork, Copilot Studio and Power Automate, with the confidence to prototype, test and iterate practical workflow solutions.
  • Comfortable designing agent behaviour, guardrails and evaluation frameworks, while knowing when to involve deeper technical specialists.
  • Technically curious and confident working in low-code environments; able to learn new tools quickly, ask the right technical questions and collaborate effectively with data scientists, engineers and product teams.

Relationship-Led Operator

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across clients, agency teams and platform/product stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment.
  • Confident engaging with senior marketers and commercial leaders.

Governance & Enterprise Mindset

  • Strong awareness of privacy, compliance and responsible AI principles in enterprise environments.
  • Understands the importance of standardisation, repeatability and scalable operating models.

Communication & Artefact Quality

  • Exceptional at simplifying complex ideas into clear narratives and crisp artefacts (blueprints, playbooks, business cases).
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Structured thinker with commercial acumen.
