Job Description

The Analyst will support the ongoing realization of business goals of CDPQ Australia by advising on transaction execution according to the required risk and return criteria and assisting in the monitoring of assets of CDPQ Group in Australia. The Investment Analyst will also assist CDPQ Australia in various research and strategic initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Active participation in the analysis of investment proposals;

  • Build and review detailed financial models and highlight the key points of the investment thesis, including performing sensitivity analyses, review of financial projections and valuation assumptions;

  • Provide valuation guidance of potential investments using the appropriate methodology (discounted cash flow, multiples, etc.);

  • Perform in-depth due diligence of investment opportunities;

  • Lead the drafting of investment proposals for new investment opportunities;

  • Assisting senior collaborators in the negotiation of trade agreements, ownership structure and investment advice;

  • Contributing to the development of the business and strategic plans of CDPQ Australia;

  • Proactive monitoring of financial and operational indicators, as well as financial reports of portfolio companies;

  • Contribute to the portfolio value added by issuing recommendations on key industry trends and strategic issues of prospective portfolio companies identified by CDPQ Australia;

  • Prepare internal and external reports on portfolio companies according to the expected timetable;

  • Perform extensive research on industry trends and fundamentals related to the covered sector: proactively follow market news and collect information from relevant sources;

  • Produce detailed analysis on key infrastructure sector challenges and recommend strategies to implement;

  • Produce sectoral studies on potential target markets to develop;

  • Develop effective tools for research and market surveillance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or accounting.

  • Master’s in Finance, MBA or CFA would be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in investing / corporate finance / investment banking, in the infrastructure and project finance industries.

  • Solid experience in financial analysis and modeling;

  • Profound knowledge of MS Office suite and financial markets tools (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, etc.);

  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and verbal;

  • Knowledge of French would be considered an asset.

  • Australian Citizen or PR preferred.
