CommBank’s Group Mergers & Acquisitions (Group M&A) team is looking for an Analyst or Manager level M&A professional to contribute to our Group M&A department sitting within Group Strategy.
 

Our team is responsible for the evaluation and execution of all acquisitions, investments and divestments considered by the CBA Group.

Your Role. 
In the Group M&A team, you will be involved in the end-to-end M&A transaction from origination through to execution and subsequent completion. You will be responsible for conducting due diligence to assess the strategic and financial benefits and risks associated with various M&A opportunities, including both buy and sell side transactions.
 

Additionally, you will support senior leadership and colleagues across the bank, by utilising experience to contribute recommendations, advice & insights on various elements of the M&A transaction process allowing senior leaders to make informed decisions for the CBA Group and subsequently our customers.
 

On any given day you may:

  • Undertake detailed financial analysis and valuation work, including developing financial models
  • Draft presentations and papers for senior stakeholders, committees and Boards within the CBA Group
  • Understand the strategies of the individual Business Units and consider whether opportunities fit within that strategy
  • Independently manage specific workstreams within M&A transactions
  • Liaise with Business Unit and support function partners
  • Assist in leveraging external resources e.g. investment banking advisors
     

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

Experience within M&A, corporate development, or equivalent deal making and executing experience from within either an corporate advisory, in-house M&A, or investment banking environment.
 

You will also have:

  • Prior experience in M&A, corporate finance/development
  • Depth of experience managing deals and activities from conception until execution
  • Well-developed ability to assess and manage competing priorities, often in time sensitive environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
