Job Description:

The Team & Role

The Portfolio Management group manages funds across multiple asset classes for clients ranging from large institutions (such as superannuation funds, sovereign wealth funds, private banks and wealth managers)) to financial advisors and individuals.

The Portfolio Management team is responsible for the implementation of Dimensional’s investment philosophy. Portfolio Managers ensure client portfolios continually pursue the targeted premiums, provide traders with buy and sell candidate lists, outline trading parameters, and assist clients to understand Dimensional’s investment approach.

Analysts are responsible for performing a series of daily tasks to ensure that our portfolio management and trading processes run smoothly. The team of Analysts work collaboratively to share tasks which include but are not limited to: analysis of corporate actions and formulation of election recommendations for Portfolio Managers, review of market news and consideration of their potential impact on securities that are held across portfolios, daily reconciliation of client portfolios ensuring that cash balances are accurate and reflect all significant transactions. The work is operational and of crucial importance in the daily investment process.

Additionally, Analysts execute ad hoc requests from Portfolio Managers such as portfolio analysis, data requests, and research into relevant market and company-specific developments. Analysts may also complete longer-term projects that to improve Dimensional’s systematic portfolio implementation processes. Analysts will regularly coordinate with portfolio managers, traders, custodian banks, and Dimensional offices across the globe.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated academic achievement

  • Interest in financial markets and an understanding of Dimensional’s investment philosophy

  • Must be detail oriented, organised, highly motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines, to be adaptable and prioritise effectively is a necessary skill

  • Ability to absorb and apply information from formal and informal learning experiences

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Prior exposure to programming and/or databases (Python, SQL, VBA) preferred
