The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Risk Lead to join our growing APAC Risk & Compliance team in Melbourne. This 2LOD position offers an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping FNZ’s Risk Management framework across APAC. You will be responsible for overseeing risk management efforts across APAC, ensuring alignment with global frameworks and regulatory requirements. Close collaboration with the Heads of Risk and Compliance in each jurisdiction will be key to maintaining consistent, effective risk management practices and reporting across the region. The Risk Lead will be pivotal in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while fostering a culture of proactive risk management across the business. 

 

In this role, you will drive risk awareness by working closely with Group Risk and business units to support and challenge stakeholders in implementing the Risk Management Framework. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide expertise for critical change projects and oversee 2LOD reporting across jurisdictions. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring effective governance reporting, offering insights into key risks and their strategic impact.

 

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks across various business lines, including financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.

  • Monitor and report on emerging risks and trends in the APAC region, ensuring timely identification and appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Identify and manage operational risks within the organisation, implementing controls to enhance operational resilience and safeguard assets.

  • Develop and maintain a robust risk reporting framework that provides clear visibility to senior management on risk exposure and mitigation efforts.

  • Collaborate with the Heads of Risk and Compliance in each jurisdiction and Group Risk to ensure local risk management practices and reporting are consistent with regional and global standards.

  • Work closely with senior management, compliance teams, and other stakeholders to promote a strong risk culture and ensure that risk management is integrated into business decision-making processes.

  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance staff awareness of risk management practices and compliance obligations.

  • Provide risk management oversight for significant change initiatives, ensuring that potential risks are identified and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and insights into risk management practices and exposures.

  • Ensure effective communication with clients regarding risk management practices, strategies, and any potential risks associated with their engagements.

  • Continuously review and enhance the risk management framework and processes to adapt to changing regulatory landscapes, market conditions, and emerging risks.

 

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate? 

  • Relevant professional or industry qualifications in risk management, compliance, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior risk management role, preferably within a platform or financial services environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory obligations and frameworks applicable to the industry with the ability to implement and enhance risk frameworks accordingly.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk and compliance concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, fostering collaboration and trust.

  • Proficient in analysing, presenting, and reporting risk and compliance information to senior stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

  • Strong sense of ownership for workload, demonstrating a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and priorities, with a willingness to embrace new challenges and initiatives.
