A Snapshot 

As Associate Commercial Director, Customer Deliverables based in our HQ in Sydney, you will report to the Associate Commercial Director, Preflight and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways: 

  • Architect and execute strategic commercial plans that align with AirTrunk’s business goals and competitive edge. 
  • You are the driving force behind the seamless execution, compliance and delivery of AirTrunk’s upstream and customer deliverables into our downstream contracts.  
  • Provide expert advice to senior management and delivery teams on contractual terms, risk allocation, and deliverables ensuring robust governance and sustainable growth. 
  • Champion transformation and continuous improvement, launching initiatives that enhance speed, quality, and cost-efficiency in the delivery of world-class data centres.  

Your Day to Day  

  • Set and drive strategic objectives for the commercial preflight program, ensuring seamless alignment with development, treasury and project teams to hit critical milestones prior to customer award. 
  • Lead complex contract reviews and high-stakes negotiations, embedding upstream deliverables into downstream agreements with precision. 
  • Identify contractual risks early in the preflight phase, crafting and deploying mitigation strategies in collaboration with legal, finance, and delivery teams. 
  • Deliver executive briefings to internal and external stakeholders, aligning contract strategy, negotiation status, and key risks, reconciling diverse views to drive results 
  • Build and oversee compliance programs, tracking all contracts for obligations, milestones, and deliverables from handover through ongoing delivery 
  • Provide decisive leadership to project and legal teams, resolving upstream claims and disputes creatively, balancing business priorities and long-term impact 
  • Engage development teams across APJ to identify recurring issues, implement innovative solutions, and embed a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Represent AirTrunk at negotiations and reviews, both domestically and internationally, resolving complex issues and developing project teams. 
  • Mentor and elevate commercial talent, building high-performing teams that deliver strategic outcomes across integrated departments. 

Requirements  

  • Required:  
  • Degree in Law plus complementary education in Engineering, Construction, or Business/Commerce. 
  • 12+ years’ experience in contracts, commercial, or legal advisory roles within complex construction or development environments. 
  • Proven expertise leading and negotiating complex contracts with enterprise or hyperscale customers and contractors, driving organisational strategy. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to influence and build relationships at senior levels across diverse geographies. 
  • Strategic problem-solver with a track record of developing and executing commercial strategies that accelerate business growth. 
  • Dynamic leadership and business partnering skills, with a history of guiding teams and delivering multi-departmental success. 
  • Preferred:  
  • Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams on major infrastructure projects; international experience (ideally APAC) with contracts >AUD$500m
