About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or a final-year university student in Economics, Statistics, Data Science or a related discipline to gain hands-on experience working with real-world datasets and analytical systems.

As a member of the Economic Analytical and Technical Services (ECATS) team in the Reserve Bank’s Economic Analysis Department, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Department's trusted data infrastructure that empower rigorous policy analysis and research, whilst developing strong technical and analytical skills in a collaborative team environment.

Your responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and updating economic datasets and data pipeline using R, SQL and proprietary systems.
  • Contribute to quality assurance of visualisations and data outputs that are used in internal research, policy outputs and public communications.
  • Support data validation, quality checks and documentation.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and other stakeholders to streamline, automate and improve data management workflows.
  • Respond to internal data queries and communicate data management issues. 
     

About you

  • Recently completed or in your final year for a degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science or a related discipline. 
  • Familiar with at least one programming language (e.g. R, SQL, Python) and advanced knowledge in Excel and experience in data manipulation and visualisation.
  • Understanding of economic and statistical concepts and an interest in working with real-world data.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Curious, organised and motivated to learn and develop practical skills in data management and analytics.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and willingness to take initiative when tackling data challenge
