Job Description

How you’ll make a difference 

  • Lead Systems & Safety Assurance: Manage the Systems and Safety Assurance team within the NSW/ACT Rail Team, contributing to major rail projects and the broader Civil Infrastructure group.
  • Safety Assurance Planning: Develop and implement safety assurance strategies, including hazard identification, risk assessment (qualitative & quantitative), and ALARP/SFAIRP argumentation.
  • Requirements & Compliance: Capture, verify, and validate system safety requirements; manage hazard logs, safety risk registers, and develop safety cases.
  • RAM & Safety Analysis: Conduct Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) analysis and support the development of robust safety arguments.

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive

  • Education & Rail Expertise: Degree in an engineering discipline with significant experience in the rail sector.
  • Safety Standards & Tools: Proficient in AS/NZS 4801, ISO/IEC 61508, EN 50126/8/9; experienced with DOORS Next Gen (Relatics desirable) and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).
  • Safety Assurance Leadership: Skilled in planning and managing all safety assurance activities on rail projects, including ALARP/SFAIRP demonstration and development of safety arguments.
  • Hazard & Risk Analysis: Expertise in HAZID/HAZOP, FTA, FMECA, and hazard analysis methods (PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, OSHA).
