Job Description

The Role

Our banking and finance practice is ranked Band 1 global-wide and have more Band 1 rankings than any other law firms on Chambers Global. From our Australian offices in Sydney and Perth, we specialise in complex cross border financings and 'first of a kind' mandates with many of our matters being nominated for awards. We offer comprehensive services to borrowers, advisers, and other intermediaries on the full spectrum of financial products across multiple sectors.

Clifford Chance's market- leading Restructuring and Insolvency Group brings together a large, dedicated team of top ranked lawyers who can draw upon a broad range of expertise in areas such as finance, M&A, tax, pensions, capital markets, regulation and real estate, to deliver practical and commercially sound solutions for our clients. Our team frequently partner with clients through all stages of the transaction - strategic planning, negotiation, and implementation - and, where required, use our cross-border expertise to give practical guidance on jurisdictional variances and issues. Our overall depth, scope, experience, and detailed understanding means we are well placed to provide proactive legal and technical advice of a consistently high quality, irrespective of the scale and complexity of the transaction.

Your experience

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic Associate (1 – 4 years PQE) to join our Global Financial Markets practice in Sydney or Perth specialising in restructuring and insolvency. To be successful, you must have experience of transactional work in restructuring & insolvency and the desire to work on market-leading and complex transactions.
  • To provide outstanding client service, we need to understand, anticipate and fulfil the unique needs and expectations of each client. To help deliver this core part of our business strategy, we want to recruit lawyers who are not only technically excellent but who are also Client Focused.
  • The role requires seamless cross-border collaboration to provide clients with global insights and tailored local expertise
  • Candidates should
    • Have an exceptional academic record and outstanding legal abilities, supported by a robust industry standing and superior transactional and leadership skills.
    • thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments and have experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
    • A strong drive for business development, client management and engagement in commercial initiatives is essential.
    • A commitment to personal growth and professional development is expected, alongside a passion for mentoring and guiding team members towards excellence
