The role of the Managed Services (MS) Associate Technical Consultant – Storage resides in the functional area of Post-sales services as part of our highly experienced Managed Service team. Specifically, the role provides technical and operational support services across the client’s enterprise storage and backup technologies. These platforms include Hitachi Vantara hardware and software products across block, object and file storage platforms, as well as 3rd Party products such as VMware, CommVault, and Compute solutions. This is delivered primarily from the customer site and various locations as required. The role at times is required to be involved in other non-operational tasks such as presales and project tasks; including but not limited to pre-requisite checklists, initial installation, troubleshooting, implementation, customization, integration and “hands on” training of systems and staff that support Hitachi Vantara Customers.
Job Title Associate Technical Consultant - Storage
Reporting To Head of Global Delivery, ANZ
Job Purpose :
The Associate Technical Consultant -Storage works closely with Project Management, Principal Consultants, Service Delivery Managers and other MS Technical Consultants and the customer to ensure a smooth implementation and transition from project kick-off through integration/testing/production mode to project close and then ongoing operations and support.
For this position at Hitachi Vantara, solid knowledge of storage administration is required to succeed. You will administer, configure, and deploy effective storage solutions. You must be able to support and troubleshoot problems in a complex storage environment. Zoning and partitioning skills and knowledge in data migration technologies is desirable, as is knowledge of VMware virtualisation.
Responsibilities
- Management and administration of Hitachi Vantara hardware and software storage platforms across block, object and file
- Administration of fabric hardware and software for Cisco, Brocade and/or other fabric architectures
- Administration of Commvault backup platforms
- Interpret storage protocols including iSCSI, Fiber Channel, CIFS, NFS, NDMP protocols and hardware, which use these products
- Maintain current knowledge of storage-related trends and issues including current emerging technologies and best practices
- Provide capacity planning, performance analysis, develop disaster recovery plans, lead efforts towards storage consolidation and identify storage growth, manage configurations of storage media and storage management software
- Provide technical expertise for the development and maintenance of the storage roadmap that maps the current and planned technical storage solutions to the Customer's business needs and objectives
- Perform storage provisioning and administration in line with policies and procedures to ensure consistent achievement of uptime, regulatory compliance and data protection goals
- Willingness to manage a 24x7x365 storage, compute and backup environment including on-call rotation, weekend work, etc
- Supporting Hitachi Vantara storage platforms in a VMware virtualization environment
- Manage and provide current storage usage statistics, provide future projected growth estimates
- Plan, document and effectively implement projects and systems
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of customer-facing experience consulting on enterprise-class storage platforms
- Experience with Hitachi Vantara Block, Object and File storage and software platforms desirable
- 1+ years performing capacity planning, performance analysis and development of data disaster recovery plans
- Experience with applications and databases desirable
- Experience in operating systems administration across UNIX and Windows desirable
- Experience in virtual platform technology e.g. VMWare
- Experience with fabric, backup and compute administration is desirable
- Experience with Data Replication, Snap Shots and Virtualization Technology
- Knowledge of Networking, Routing and Switching Technologies and Windows Server Administration is desirable
- Good knowledge of ITIL and working within a managed service framework
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment with many deadlines and competing priorities
- Willingness to manage a 24x7x365 storage, fabric, compute and backup environment including on-call rotation, weekend work, etc
