What You’ll Do

Global Networks & Technology - Commercial Engineering designs and delivers Telstra's commercial solutions, ensuring they meet the needs of its customers and partners.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Development of test documentation, test and deliver to agreed timelines, quality performance and customer service levels whilst minimising total cost of ownership.

  • Develop and/or contribute to the development of Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Readiness, Test Report documentation.

  • Be recognised as a Testing subject matter expert and provide expert support, consultancy, guidance and facilitation to other areas of Telstra in the preparation, business and technical evaluation of new technologies and product development.

  • Deploy proposed automation tools, techniques and methodologies to ensure solution and applications are tested and verified to the highest quality

  • Design, implement and maintain the automated test cases, scripts and libraries

  • Identify the modularity within a test case which can be separated as a reusable logic

  • Assist other team members in using automated test cases for their testing, as per applicability

  • Assist in analysing new opportunities for introducing and expanding automation imprint

  • Document the reusable components within automation frameworks

  • Identify process improvements and contribute to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice

  • Automate test methods or source off the shelf test equipment

  • Apply emphasis on Customer Experience testing

  • Perform ad hoc/exploratory testing methodically to ensure system is working as expected by end user

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to peers as required

  • Work with CI / CD framework and build test automation to help with various projects

  • Create/Develop Test Cases from the project requirements and or use cases in discussion with Engineering

  • Execute approved test cases

  • Provide Defect management and root cause analysis

  • Work both autonomously and as part of a team. You will demonstrate a commitment to achieving results and be able work independently.

  • Analysis of testing reports to determine the products and/or network platforms suitability to operate

  • Communicate Test Requirements to mission/projects stakeholders

  • Support project Test Program Managers/Leads and Analysts

  • Support Test reviews with Technology teams and provide visibility of learnings

  • Review of baseline Requirements, Use Cases and Solution Designs to assess impacts to testing

  • Ensure appropriate environment configurations are available and on time by the environment owners

About You

Qualifications/Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor of Engineering/Telecommunications (or equivalent)

  • Experience in Network engineering roles

  • Experience in Network Testing and Software Test methodologies

  • Experience in development test automation practices and tools

  • Experience in API-based automation and exposure to GUI-based automation

  • Experience in converting manual test cases to automated test cases

  • Working knowledge of tools JIRA, Bamboo, Confluence, SVN, Bitbucket, Azure, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub

  • Working knowledge of unix/linux/ubuntu

  • Working knowledge of Micro services

  • Working knowledge of programming languages/scripts like Python, C#

  • Knowledge on Network Cloud, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN)

  • Experience in both Product & Network roll outs following Agile, Waterfall, DevOps processes.

  • Strong competence in analysis, problem solving and leadership.

Highly desirable

  • CI/CD pipeline integration with automated test cases using above list of tools

  • Stakeholder management

  • Experience with different programming languages -  Java, JavaScipt, JSON, Shell scripting, Curl, TCL, C++,XML, Ruby, Xamarain, CSharp, DotNet. Perl, SQL, XML, HTML, Unix,  Ericsson CLI

  • Working knowledge of tools like Spirent Landslide, SoapUI, Cucumber, Selenium, Xamarain Test Cloud, Rest Assure, POSTMAN, JMeter

  • DevOps / Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment exposure preferred

  • Good technical knowledge of wireless technology and networks. Areas such as 4G, 5G, OSS/BSS, IN, prepaid and post-paid services, with knowledge in provisioning and billing is highly desirable.

  • ISTQB and/or ITIL certified highly regarded
