About the team
This role is part of the Payments Settlements department, Business Services Group. Business Services Group is responsible for the provision of banking and payments services to Australian Government agencies, the provision of payment settlement services to Australian financial system participants through the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS), the conduct of Exchange Settlement Accounts and the production and issuance of Australian banknotes.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Test Lead (Functional Testing) to contribute to a major core technology infrastructure upgrade program within the Bank. This is a non-people leading role, focused on technical leadership and delivery within the automation testing domain.
Key Objectives
Lead technical analysis and implementation of test automation across complex, integrated business domains to reduce risk and enhance quality efficiently.
Plan, design, and execute automated functional testing across multiple test levels.
Develop and maintain test artefacts, including automation scripts, test plans, and progress reports.
Ensure consistent application of testing standards, methodologies, and tools across projects.
Champion quality improvements within the testing domain, promoting a consistent and scalable approach to automation and fostering a quality-first mindset.
Contribute to system enhancements that improve usability and overall business experience.
Support the maintenance and availability of UAT environments, including timely validation of OS, security, and application patches.
Expand automation coverage across applications and test levels, focusing on improving both breadth and depth of regression and progression testing.
About you
Extensive hands-on experience in Selenium with Java, including successful delivery of robust test automation frameworks, scripts, and tools.
Minimum 8 years of experience in test automation across complex systems and domains.
Demonstrated proficiency in Serenity-Cucumber is essential.
Strong working knowledge of build tools (e.g., Maven), source control systems (e.g., GitLab, SVN), and CI/CD platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
Demonstrated experience in planning and executing functional testing for mission-critical systems.
Experience with shift-left testing practices and data warehouse automation is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with payment, clearing, and settlement systems and related industry standards is desirable.
Solid understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with practical experience in CI/CD pipelines.
Proficient in using defect and test management tools such as JIRA and QMetry.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
