At AirTrunk, we’ve all come together to deliver data centres that meet and grow with the needs of our large cloud, content and enterprise customers.  

As the AVP, Energy Strategy (APAC) you will report to the VP, Energy & Climate and work closely with the leadership team and customers to support AirTrunk’s continued growth. You will work with the leading global internet and technology companies, as well as the largest utilities, energy and renewable providers in the region, and make a massive difference to how we source and use energy.

You will make your mark in a number of ways for AirTrunk’s data centers in the region:

  • Develop energy growth strategy across utility, energy transition and energy procurement and performance verticals working with energy teams and other internal stakeholders
  • Originate and develop power-led DC opportunities together with internal utility teams and energy partners including generation and technology partners (leading the partnership models, commercial structuring, value propositions and business case)  
  • Lead the commercial development of utility connection agreements and optimization of costs for delivery and supply including application of regulated and other charging models (including structuring new commercial models such as BOOM and others)
  • Develop options for alternative power supply arrangements including partnering with technology providers and generators for captive and co-located power supply
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that support AirTrunk strategies
  • Work with investors and strategic partners to leverage synergies in executing our energy strategy

The role will be based at AirTrunk’s Sydney office (Singapore office an option on request).

Your Day to Day

  • Engage with strategic energy partners on project development opportunities
  • Engage with leadership and investors on business cases and strategy execution
  • Work with energy team to drive complex strategic projects to success
  • Engage with our customers to identify and meet energy requirements
  • Collaborate with our Design, Site Selection and Development teams on utility needs
  • Create and present summary reports in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Join regular team meetings and progress updates

Requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant experience e.g. grid and energy project development, energy consulting / financing / investment, energy networks, energy supply and procurement
  • Strong commercial, business and energy market acumen for investment and deal structuring and business case preparation
  • Demonstrated capability to lead strategic initiatives including engaging with executive teams and investor groups
  • Ability to lead and develop teams and role model positive leadership behaviours
  • Good understanding of the utility and electricity market in APAC markets
  • High level of motivation to learn and grow in the role
