Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to join our team in Sydney, Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS services. The core purpose is to ensure that cloud architecture is secure, scalable, cost‑efficient, and aligned with business needs, enabling an organization to innovate, modernize, and operate reliably in the cloud.

You will work closely with Solution Architects and client architects, help shape and contribute to the Technical Design Specification (TDS), articulating architecture rationale, integration approaches, and key non-functional considerations (e.g., security, resiliency, scalability, and operability) so delivery teams can implement consistently and confidently.

The role maintains architectural control by governing changes, administering critical design adjustments, and ensuring implementation remains aligned to the target architecture and desired results. You will promote best practices, frameworks, and reusable components across projects, helping define system-level application architecture including high-level design patterns, architecture principles and policies, engineering guidelines, configuration controls, and end-to-end build and integration strategies.

The role involves migrating on‑premises applications and workloads to AWS using services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and AWS Migration Hub. You will implement infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, ensuring all solutions meet cloud security best practices leveraging AWS IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, and Security Hub. The position requires close collaboration with development teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy, while continuously optimizing cloud resource usage and cost through tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to uplift the team’s cloud and DevOps capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a large scale project environment apce.
  • Experience with cloud architecture design patterns and best practices
  • Expertise in AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and compliance standards
  • Scripting/programming skills (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud architecture and design
  • Experience in migrating on-premises workloads to the cloud
  • Experience in designing and implementing highly available and fault-tolerant systems
  • Experience in cost optimization and resource management
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent certification
