Business Analyst / Project Manager (Sydney / Melbourne based)

ABOUT THE JOB
 
You will bring, and acquire further, consulting experience in one or more of the Private Banking, Wealth Management, Superannuation, Retail & SME banking and Insurance industries.  You will build knowledge on a wide range of companies and apply project management best practices in a fast-paced and intellectually challenging work environment. As we carry out projects at the clients’ premises, in our office or offsite, you will play a key role in building trusted client relationships through high quality deliverables and leveraging our industry expertise. 
Synpulse is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for our Consultant Talent Panel. Successful applicants will be pre-qualified for potential project deployment or inclusion in client proposals on a day-rate basis.
Membership of this panel is non-exclusive and does not guarantee an offer of work or create an employment relationship. You remain free to seek alternate engagements at any time. Should long-term requirements arise, we may discuss term-based or permanent options by mutual agreement.
 
Job requirements

ABOUT YOU

•  At least 3 years of experience as a management consultant, or experience in business analysis and project management.

• Strong knowledge of one or more of Private Banking, Wealth Management, Superannuation, Retail & SME banking, Insurance, Risk and Regulatory
• Strong business analysis experience. Ability to apply proven methodologies and approaches to identify solutions to client problems.
• Creative and strategic thinking skills
• Structured problem solving, and the ability to explain results.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with appropriate prioritization, and to work independently while still being a team-player.
• Ability to produce high-quality consulting deliverables (proposals, customer presentations, consulting reports).
• Support project implementation including meeting project key milestones, timeline and proactively manage and resolve issues.
• Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
• Communicate effectively and confidently (both verbal and written).
• Work well in cross-functional teams.
• Remain current on new developments in financial services industry and technical knowledge.
• Consistently deliver quality client services and manage expectations of client service delivery.
• Demonstrates integrity, values, principles, and work ethic.
• Ability to communicate with client leaders to influence direction and manage expectations.
• Ability to work in collaborative and client-facing environments.
• Experience with the following or other similar technology solutions will be highly regarded - Thought Machine, Mambo, Avaloq, Temenos, FNZ, nCino, Entsia and other insurance applications 
• Based in Sydney or Melbourne

Job responsibilities
Key aspects of the role applicable across the project delivery lifecycle include (not an exhaustive list nor are all applicable to both functional and technical roles):

• Analysis on the needs and issues of the client through interviews and workshops.
• Requirements gathering and documentation.
• Involvement in grooming and planning sessions, highlighting potential risks to the project.
• Parameterize software/systems, including business modules.
• Design and develop code bases based on business requirements presented.
• Provide support to SIT, UAT, cutover and post go-live activities including testing, development, and package deployment.
• Document the project into systems and processes for management review.
• Close interaction with clients through regular project updates and networking.

More experienced candidates may have additional responsibilities including:

• Independently drive the success of a work stream by directing activities, ensuring high quality deliverables and timely submission.
• Manage a team of consultants by defining meaningful work packages, managing activities, and through mentorship.
• Conduct interviews and workshops with clients to translate their requirements into well formulated solutions.
• Close interaction with clients through regular project updates and networking.
• Participate in business development activities including topic development, proposal preparation, sales presentations, and contract negotiation.
