Business Analyst

  • Full-Time position with a flexible, hybrid working arrangement
  • Lead the discovery, design, and delivery of the systems and data work that powers fundraising that changes lives.
  • Join a leading NFP tackling poverty & building a better future for all

About Caritas Australia

We are Compassion in Action. Caritas Australia is the international humanitarian and aid agency of the Australian Catholic Church. We have a vision to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity for all. We partner with the most vulnerable communities to help them build better outcomes by improving access to sustainable livelihoods, clean water, sanitation and education.

Why work for Caritas Australia?

You will join a team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about tackling poverty and injustice. As part of the Caritas Australia team, you will also benefit from:

  • Advance your career within the International Aid & Development sector with a focus on professional development and on the job learning opportunities.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, to support your work/life balance.
  • Generous leave benefits including wellbeing, birthday, and 14 weeks of gender-neutral parental leave.
  • Not-for-Profit salary packaging offered (reducing your taxable income and potentially increasing your take home pay)

What does the role involve?

The Business Analyst plays a key role in shaping how our supporter systems and data support the organisation's fundraising and engagement goals. Working across Salesforce (NPSP), Marketing Cloud, and related platforms, this role identifies, proposes, and documents system and process improvements, leads projects to deliver them, and builds the data governance frameworks that keep our data reliable and well-managed. It's a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of how things work, and who can also step back to see where the bigger opportunities for improvement lie.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Analyse and design solutions:  turn business needs into clear specs, user stories, and process designs, with hands-on configuration where needed.
  • Lead projects end-to-end: from discovery to delivery, managing timelines, risk, and testing, and leading vendor and partner relationships where relevant.
  • Drive automation and improvement: spot inefficiencies and build the automations and process fixes.
  • Champion data governance: build and embed the frameworks that keep our data quality, standards, and ownership on track.
  • Support change that sticks: document processes and changes, and guide teams through adoption with training and clear communication.
  • Pitch in on data and reporting: extraction, analysis, and insight to support the wider team as needed.

This role is based in Sydney and will work a hybrid model, including at least two days in the office per week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in either Business, Information Technology, Data or in a related field.
  • Several years' experience as a business analyst or similar, ideally in a CRM or data-driven environment.
  • A track record of leading projects from discovery through to delivery.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM — NPSP or nonprofit experience a bonus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a knack for turning business needs into clear, practical specs.
  • Great communicator, equally comfortable with technical and non-technical audiences.
