About Business Development

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Business Development Executive / Business Development Manager to join our Technology and Digital and Intellectual Property (Tech & IP) Business Development team in Sydney. In this role, you'll partner closely with our lawyers and leaders to drive growth, strengthen client relationships and elevate G+T's market profile across our Tech & IP practice and the broader technology sector.

You'll play a key role in shaping and delivering business development initiatives that position G+T at the forefront of the market. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where you'll bring ideas to life – from strategic client pursuits and targeted campaigns to thought leadership, industry engagement and innovation initiatives.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the development and delivery of the Tech & IP business development strategy, working closely with partners and lawyers to drive growth and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with partners to strengthen client relationships, identify prospective clients and support targeted client development and cross-practice initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality pitches, proposals, tenders and client presentations, ensuring a tailored and client-focused approach.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and client insights to identify opportunities, inform business development priorities and support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver targeted marketing campaigns, thought leadership initiatives, client events and industry engagement activities to elevate the practice's market profile.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader business development and marketing teams to deliver practice initiatives, enhance business development processes and leverage technology and AI to improve efficiency.

About You

You'll be a proactive, commercially minded and confident communicator who enjoys building relationships, bringing ideas to life and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will also bring:

  • Relevant business development or marketing experience, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting business development initiatives, client engagement activities, pitches, proposals, campaigns or events.
  • Strong commercial awareness, research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into practical business development opportunities.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing compelling proposals, presentations and client-facing materials.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
  • A proactive, collaborative and outcomes-focused approach, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders and an interest in technology and innovation.

What we will offer you

Gilbert + Tobin will offer you a friendly, flexible and professional working environment. In addition to top of market remuneration, we provide our people with benefits such as up to 26 weeks’ paid parental leave, additional annual leave, a subsidised café, subsidised gym membership, ‘end of trip facilities’, exclusive retail discounts, social events, and much more, which you can view here: http://bit.ly/GTFLYER
