About Business Development

We’re looking for a strategic Business Development Manager to join our market-leading Corporate Advisory practice group in Sydney or Melbourne. In this role, you’ll partner with our lawyers and leaders to drive growth, strengthen client relationships and lift G+T’s market profile.

You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering the group’s business development strategy to position G+T at the forefront of the market. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll bring ideas to life - from client pursuits and campaigns to thought leadership and industry engagement.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively and transparently across the team and contribute to the delivery of strategic and BAU initiatives.
  • Execute and evolve the Corporate Advisory business development strategy to achieve growth, client engagement and market positioning objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners to identify, qualify and pursue key client and industry opportunities.
  • Lead and coach partners and lawyers through tenders, proposals and client presentations, ensuring consistency, quality and client focus.
  • Participate in client engagement activities including feedback programs, relationship development and cross-practice collaboration to strengthen client connectivity.
  • Use market intelligence to inform opportunity identification, pipeline development and communication with partners.
  • Develop and deliver marketing campaigns and client events in collaboration with internal communications, marketing and events teams.
  • Oversee rankings and recognition programs, including legal directory, league tables and award submissions ensuring alignment with firm priorities and practice positioning.
  • Maintain and enhance business development infrastructure including capability materials, content libraries and systems that support efficiency and visibility of activity.
  • Support sponsorships and industry relationships, ensuring strategic alignment, activation and measurable return on investment.
  • Collaborate across business development, client and sector teams to share insights, ensure alignment and contribute to firm-wide initiatives that drive consistency and impact.
  • Model leadership and accountability, managing daily team workflow and mentoring junior team members to build capability and performance.

About You

You’ll be a natural collaborator who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will also bring:

  • At least five years’ business development experience gained in a legal or professional services environment.
  • A team player and keen collaborator, with the agility to work across multiple initiatives, stakeholders and priorities while contributing positively to shared team outcomes.
  • A track record of developing and implementing business or client plans that drive growth.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills, with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Solid understanding of the relationship between business development and marketing in the legal sector.
  • Experience with client management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative and outcomes-focused mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, innovation and the ability to coach others.
  • An understanding of data-driven business development is highly regarded, as is experience working with senior stakeholders in a partnership environment.
