Position Title: Business Development Manager – Federal Government

Location: Remote, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Business Development Manager to spearhead the growth of our business in our Federal Government Vertical. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex deals and working with high-profile clients, while leading the charge on larger, more complex business initiatives. This role is perfect for a seasoned professional with exceptional negotiation skills, a strong network, and a keen understanding of market dynamics. If you thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment and are ready to take on a leadership role, this opportunity is for you.

Summary

  • Lead the identification and pursuit of high-value business opportunities in target markets.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and high-profile clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their business needs and objectives.
  • Formulate and execute strategic business development plans to secure large, complex deals with significant revenue potential.
  • Oversee the entire deal lifecycle, from lead generation to closure and delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to shape business strategies and support organisational growth.
  • Present business proposals and high-level presentations to C-suite executives, boards and other senior-level stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends, economic shifts and regulatory changes to anticipate and capitalise on emerging opportunities.
  • Track and report on sales metrics, business performance and market penetration, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

What we are looking for in you

  • Proven experience in Business Development or senior sales within Cybersecurity Consulting and Managed Security Services, with strong knowledge of offerings such as penetration testing, risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and MXDR.
  • Experience in selling Cybersecurity Consulting and Managed Security Services to the Australian Federal Government
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (e.g. PSPF, SOCI Act, Cyber Security Act, Essential Eight, NIST CSF, IRAP)
  • Strong leadership and client management skills with a demonstrated ability to close complex deals.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, particularly at senior management or C-suite level.
  • Proven track record of managing large deals and building long-term client partnerships.
  • Advanced knowledge of CRM systems and business development software tools.
