Job Description

As a Business Strategy Analyst, you play a critical role in shaping the future of the Corporate Strategy team by supporting and contributing to Telstra's long-term strategy, and its execution.

As a Business Strategy Analyst, you thrive on leveraging your strong understanding of current and evolving market dynamics to drive the thinking on specific workstreams within a project. You have an ability to provide rigorous and accurate analysis in a complex and rapidly evolving business environment. This will help you to support the strategies and specific initiatives developed and enable accurate and consistent decision making.

What You’ll Do

As a member of the Strategy Chapter at Telstra, your will see you:

  • Apply your knowledge and experience to analyse relevant data for supporting the rationale, assumptions, strategic considerations, and risk assessments involved in strategy development
  • Take ownership of you own work/activities applying a ‘top-down’ approach to problem solving in your team, and in your specific workstreams whilst maintaining a view of the ‘bigger picture’ for Telstra and our customers
  • Analyse and synthesise key data sets with a hypothesis driven approach. You will be responsible for assessing business, technology, market dynamics and industry trends to support strategy development
  • Leverage your strong inter-personal and communication skills (written and verbal) to support the development decision-making materials (e.g. papers, slideware, workshop preparation and scenario planning)
  • Collaborate with peer and senior project members within and external to the team to support the development of robust strategy to align with Telstra’s strategic objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience in either Strategy Consulting, in-house strategy, commercial, or strategic finance roles
  • Strong foundational financial and commercial acumen
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively within and across different teams
  • Ability to break down and solve business problems with a ‘top-down’ hypothesis driven approach
  • Interest in long-term strategic problem solving
  • Stakeholder management and negotiation skills
