About the role

As a Capital Assurance Specialist, you’ll play a key role in our Benefits & Investment Assurance team—working closely with Finance, Strategy, Sponsors, and Delivery teams to strengthen decision‑making across our capital portfolio.

In this role, you’ll bring independent analysis, rigour and insight to major investment proposals, project reviews and benefits assessments. From conducting Health Checks and Post Implementation Reviews to deeply analysing business cases and identifying value drivers, you’ll help ensure our capital projects are evidence‑based, strategically aligned, and deliver maximum value for the organisation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Conduct assurance reviews—including Health Checks and Post Implementation Reviews—to assess delivery confidence and validate project outcomes.
• Review project documentation such as business cases, risk registers and delivery strategies to ensure accuracy, completeness and alignment to organisational objectives.
• Facilitate structured interviews with Sponsors, Project Managers and Delivery teams to gather evidence and test assumptions.
• Draft clear assurance reports with findings and actionable recommendations for senior decision‑makers.
• Identify, quantify and baseline financial and non‑financial benefits, and monitor benefits realisation across the capital portfolio.
• Work with Finance, Strategy and Delivery teams to integrate investment performance and benefits insights into corporate planning and reporting cycles.

About you

You will bring:

• Experience (5+ years) in investment assurance, portfolio or project analysis, or benefits management.
• Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies (e.g., Stage Gates, PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile) and capital governance.
• Demonstrated experience conducting reviews and developing reports with insights and recommendations.
• The ability to link benefits to strategic objectives and portfolio outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for senior stakeholders.
• A collaborative, analytical and curious approach, with confidence to constructively challenge assumptions.
• Experience in capital‑intensive industries—such as infrastructure or aviation—is desirable.
