Job Description

About the team & the role

Sydney Airport’s freight operations are undergoing a once‑in‑a‑generation transformation. As our new Cargo Partner Manager, you will play an instrumental role in delivering the SYD Freight Strategy and shaping the next era of air cargo operations through to 2050.

Reporting to the Senior Project Director - Freight, you will support the engagement, evaluation, selection and onboarding of future Cargo Terminal Operators (CTOs), Airlines and Integrators as we transition into new world‑class cargo facilities. You will collaborate closely with experts across Property, Planning & Delivery, Legal, Procurement, Operations and Aviation to ensure continuity, alignment and operational excellence.

This is a high‑visibility role in a complex, fast‑moving environment - perfect for a commercial, relationship‑driven cargo specialist who thrives at the intersection of strategy, logistics and stakeholder influence.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Lead market engagement and evaluation for future cargo terminal operators, supporting tender processes, assessment and partner selection.
  • Support commercial negotiations and agreements, providing cargo operational and commercial expertise to shape partner proposals and facility requirements.
  • Influence the design and delivery of new cargo facilities, ensuring they are fit‑for‑purpose and aligned with long‑term freight strategy.
  • Develop and implement cargo performance frameworks, including SLAs, KPIs and transparent, automated reporting.
  • Help establish a SYD‑wide Cargo Community, improving coordination and operational outcomes across CTOs, airlines, integrators and logistics partners.
  • Build strong relationships across internal teams and industry partners, ensuring alignment, visibility and successful program delivery.

About you

You’ll thrive in this role if you are a commercially astute cargo professional with strong stakeholder capability and a passion for shaping the future of airport freight operations.

You will bring:

  • Leadership experience within Cargo Terminal Operations, Air Freight Logistics or large‑scale airport or national networks.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, operating or influencing air freight terminal environments.
  • Strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate operational complexity into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • High emotional intelligence, strong communication skills and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • A proactive, disciplined and collaborative mindset
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or proven experience in Integrated Logistics, Project Management or large‑scale supply chain leadership.
