EDUCATION:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of four years of employment experience in accounting and auditing.  Experience in accounting/auditing in a gaming regulatory or gaming compliance operation is preferred, or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.

SCHEDULED HOURS:

Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This position is responsible for working with a highly qualified accounting team and is an integral position within the RI Lottery’s Finance Department. 

This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining the end-to-end accounting procedures for a new sports book offering in the State of Rhode Island.  This hands-on role requires expertise in finance, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to design scalable processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have experience with casino accounting, state gaming laws, and the rules and regulations related to sports wagering.  This position will be responsible for executing in accordance with the daily accounting policies and procedures, and monitoring compliance with RI’s sports book(s) and iGaming platform(s).  The position may assist with accounting work related to other gaming products offered by the RI Lottery.

In this position the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing all sportsbook-specific accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to an incremental sports wagering platform to be implemented in Rhode Island.
  • Overseeing the design of all sportsbook-specific system reporting on an incremental sports wagering platform, to adhere to sports wagering requirements.  
  • Completing the daily accounting and reporting in accordance with policy, and completing weekly wire transfers.
  • Monitoring and reconciling financial reporting discrepancies by collecting and analyzing accounting information.
  • Verifying and maintaining reports and records of gaming accounting transactions for preparation of financial reports, operating reports, adjustments and closing entries, through the trial balance. 
  • Monitoring gaming reports, preparation of revenue and expense estimates, preparation of monthly standard journal entries, and other financial responsibilities as may be assigned by management.
  • Performing daily internal control procedures for compliance requirements.
  • Providing regular financial analysis and reports to senior management.
  • Providing back-up for colleagues during their vacations/leaves.
  • Other financial responsibilities may be assigned by management.
  • This position will be primarily located at our two casino locations in Lincoln and Tiverton, RI., and occasionally may be required to work from the Lottery headquarters in Cranston, RI.
