Job Description

The Category Manager is responsible for overseeing a specific category within the commercial brands portfolio, driving both strategic and operational success. This role involves developing long-term growth plans, managing daily operations such as range optimization, pricing, and supplier relationships, and collaborating cross-functionally to implement data-driven strategies. The Category Manager ensures category profitability and growth by leading market analysis, product lifecycle management, and fostering collaboration across teams.

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives, backed by market and competitor analysis.
  • Conduct market research and analyse customer behaviour to stay competitive and identify growth opportunities.
  • Optimize the product range by managing the lifecycle, introducing new products, and collaborating with suppliers to align with customer demand.
  • Set pricing strategies, manage margins, and coordinate with marketing teams to drive promotions and engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure consistent product supply and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Regularly track and report category performance, providing insights to guide strategy and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Lead and mentor the team, setting goals, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of development and inclusivity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields, with proven experience in category management or procurement roles.
  • Demonstrated success in expanding product categories, particularly in fast-paced, growth-driven industries.
  • Strong expertise in developing and implementing category strategies, including pricing, promotions, and lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, with excellent negotiation skills and contract management experience.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, using data analysis and forecasting to make informed, market-driven decisions
