About this role
We are seeking a strategic, execution-oriented, partner for the role of Chief of Staff to the Co-Head of USWA and BLK Senior Sponsor for Retirement.
A Chief of Staff is expected to be many things: a strategist, a trusted operator & advisor, a diplomat, and a force multiplier to help make their leader more effective and the organization more aligned. Their north star is: “What can I take off the leader’s plate, or help them do better?” The ideal candidate for this role is someone with high emotional intelligence, broad business acumen, and a bias for action.
This role is focused on supporting the Co-Head of USWA and BLK Senior Sponsor for Retirement, the USWA ExCo, and the USWA business more broadly by driving cross-business engagement, meeting organization (pre-meeting preparation & post-meeting follow-ups), cross-business communication, and productivity. This role will also partner with the Co-Head of USWA and BLK Senior Sponsor for Retirement, the USWA ExCo, and our Retirement Business leaders across the firm to drive strategic initiatives, lead special projects, and connect leaders across functions and to broader BlackRock. This position reports to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Planning for USWA, Mike Golisano.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively drive preps for internal & external meetings and speaking engagements; including presentations, briefings, and talking points.
- Working with leaders across the business, help prepare the Co-Head of USWA for internal and external meetings, ensuring agendas are clear, and high-quality materials are available for pre-read in a timely fashion.
- Support ACB leadership with project management, specifically ensuring projects are progressing in a timely fashion and facilitating check-ins with senior stakeholders.
- Build C-suite level presentations and memos for firm and department stakeholders (i.e., BlackRock GEC, Board of Directors, USWA ExCo, USWA MD Community).
- Plan and coordinate leadership meetings, offsites, and town halls.
- Handle questions on behalf of the Co-Head of USWA and coordinate response and action plans to resolve inquiries.
- Stay connected with the broader ACB business (ACB, AIB, & LatAm) through Chief of Staff counterparts in those businesses.
- Maintain a pulse of the business to keep the Co-Head of USWA and the ExCo informed of everything going on in the business by understanding what is working well, and what can be improved and then develop and execute plans to help solve issues or capture new opportunities.
- Be a thought partner to the Co-Head of USWA and the COO & strategy team while being a source of candid feedback. Turn ideas into actions and manage priorities effectively.
- Develop a USWA narrative and messaging, in partnership with corporate communications and marketing, to be shared with broader USWA population to drive a sense of connectivity, community, belonging and ensuring key messages are cascaded throughout the business.
