Job Description

The Chief of Staff for the News and Current Affairs Video Content team will manage a team of multimedia producers and journalists to create and distribute consumer-first news content that matters. 

The Chief of Staff sets the daily editorial agenda for the fast-paced and innovative Video Content team, working with the acclaimed 9News & Current Affairs teams aligned to the  digital video strategy to unlock growth . 

This role will see you use your deep knowledge of news, current affairs and multi-platform content creation and distribution to shape the digital landscape and engage millions of consumers in Australia, and across the globe. 

Day to day you will:

  • Set the daily editorial agenda, assigning tasks to a national team of journalists and producers.
  • Commission content for specific audiences across Nine’s owned and third-party channels.
  • Implement strategies to maximise engagement, revenue and referral traffic. 
  • Manage a team of multimedia producers and journalists, fostering a great culture.
  • Report on content performance, sharing key insights and recommendations with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all content meets legal and moderation standards prior to publication.
  • Collaborate with key teams across the business to maximise the life cycle of our work. 

Qualifications

What you’ll bring: 

  • Experience managing people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of digital and social media platforms, including emerging trends, analytics, and algorithms.
  • Extensive experience working in a newsroom.
  • Well-developed experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in editorial and technological workflows. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A genuine and deep interest in news 
  • The ability to analyse content effectiveness and audience sentiment.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
