Client Manager

The Client Manager is a central point of contact for clients and a key driver of integrated, cross-channel communication recommendations across paid, owned, and earned media. Sitting within the client team and reporting to the Client Associate Director, this role is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, delivering high-quality media planning outputs, and ensuring all work is grounded in clear client priorities. The Client Manager plays a critical role in connecting the right internal expertise to consistently elevate the quality and impact of Wavemaker's work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain deep knowledge of each client's business, including market share, purchase barriers, key competitors, and growth drivers, to inform planning and strategic recommendations
  • Develop and manage strong, enduring relationships with key client contacts, acting as a trusted and knowledgeable partner across day-to-day engagement
  • Lead the delivery of media planning recommendations using agency and industry tools, applying sound planning principles across scheduling, flighting, audience development, and channel prioritisation
  • Manage client briefs end-to-end — from full comprehension and internal briefing through to final delivery — ensuring outputs meet the highest quality standards
  • Coordinate across internal teams including strategy, channel specialists, and WPP Media product teams to bring together the right resources and deliver integrated solutions
  • Contribute to innovation in planning by sourcing and applying market insights, emerging trends, and creative thinking to client challenges
  • Support agency growth by contributing to award entries, thought leadership, and industry presence at relevant events
  • Monitor campaign status across all active and upcoming activity, ensuring stakeholders are aligned and any issues are flagged and resolved proactively
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and output quality across all aspects of the role
  • Maintain a clear understanding of in-scope services and manage out-of-scope requests appropriately, with full visibility of client approval processes
Required Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a media agency or similar environment, with hands-on involvement in media planning across multiple channels
  • Strong working knowledge of media planning principles, including audience targeting, channel roles, scheduling, and performance measurement
  • Proven ability to build and manage client relationships, with a track record of delivering high-quality work under competing priorities
  • Clear and confident communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to tailor language and approach to different audiences
  • Collaborative working style with experience contributing effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to interpret client briefs and translate them into well-reasoned internal and external recommendations
  • Results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated focus on delivering measurable business outcomes for clients
  • Comfortable working with industry tools and data platforms to support planning, audience development, and performance analysis
Preferred Experience
  • Experience presenting media recommendations or POVs directly to clients or senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with WPP Media tools, proprietary platforms, or equivalent agency technology ecosystems
  • Prior involvement in award submissions, case study development, or thought leadership content
  • Exposure to multiple client categories or verticals, with an ability to apply cross-industry insight to planning challenges
