Job Description

As an Azure Cloud Engineer you will be joining our Cloud Engineering Platform team to help our customers and partners whilst building sustainable digital platforms and leading a market uplift in our adoption of Cloud. Working closely with product owners, senior leaders, partners and other IT teams, you will manage dependencies and remove impediments to effectively deliver project features and on-going operational support.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Translating business objectives into streams of work, aligning technology and business strategy
  • Providing advice and thought leadership to ensure successful design and implementation of technology strategies
  • Working closely with Tech leads to implement Archetype patterns and best practices.
  • Working with Cyber team to implement security principals.
  • Working closely with product owners, IT stakeholders and other leaders to deliver initiatives and products utilising agile methods
  • Developing and maintaining processes and practises essential to quality and traceability
  • Fostering a culture of ownership, innovation and quality in development activities
  • Managing operational requirements with the team including incident management and minor production updates
  • Empowering and supporting product owners and delivery teams to invest in application health, balancing application and platform ownership responsibilities with delivery
  • Empowering staff to take accountability for delivery, risk and issue management and assisting the team to improve delivery velocity
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, third parties and other delivery, infrastructure and operational teams to enable efficient delivery
  • Working with People & Culture and training partners to plan and create a Cloud training curriculum for technical & non-technical TAL teams
  •  Being a Cloud Evangelist, engaging with developers, architects and senior management to increase awareness and adoption of Cloud across TAL while demonstrating quantifiable business value
  • Running regular knowledge sharing sessions and keep everyone at TAL informed.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Results oriented with an ability to drive high operational efficiency
  • Analytically rigorous with a high attention to detail
  • An ability to constructively challenge stakeholders on their needs to determine the best solution
  • At least three years’ experience in a Cloud Engineering or comparable role, delivering innovative products and continuous improvements to customers
  • A strong technical background, including experience with Azure, AWS or GCP Cloud platforms, .Net, SQL Server and NoSQL technologies
  • Extensive experience with Terraform cloud to create and maintain infrastructure as code in Azure.
  • Establish and document terraform development best practices and guardrails.
  • An experienced azure network focused Engineer that has had experience in deploying Azure & hybrid solutions.
  • Strong Cloud Architecture experience across Azure, AWS or GCP, container frameworks (Docker, Kubernetes) including establishing and maturing enterprise governance practices.
  • Strong experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD (Azure DevOps) practices in delivery teams, including automated build.
