Join our dynamic and innovative Technology team as a Cloud Engineering Manager, where you'll play a key role in shaping the future of intelligent, scalable solutions for EML.
In this leadership role, you'll drive strategic cloud initiatives, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our hybrid cloud platforms. You’ll lead a team of cloud engineers, oversee architecture, automation, and operations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise performance and cost efficiency.

This will be a full time. fixed term 12 month contract based in the Sydney office (with the view to be made permanent), with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Define and execute the cloud strategy, aligning it with business, DevOps, and security objectives.
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and other selected cloud services. Optimize cloud architecture for scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Oversee cloud automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, and Ansible. Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient application deployment.
- Enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and vulnerability management. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as ISO 27001, APRA, PCI-DSS, and SOC2.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure cloud service availability. Monitor and optimize cloud expenditures using FinOps best practices, including resource tagging and budget controls.
- Develop and maintain cloud incident response processes. Ensure disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies align with business continuity goals. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortem reviews for cloud incidents.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless cloud adoption and governance. Stay abreast of cloud technology trends, recommending best practices and emerging solutions.
ABOUT YOU
- 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years as a Senior Lead managing AWS & Azure cloud services.
- Proven leadership in cloud engineering, with expertise in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Strong technical skills in cloud infrastructure, automation, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), and DevOps.
- Experience in CI/CD, containerized workloads, and cloud security frameworks (CIS benchmarks, NIST).
- Expertise in serverless computing, microservices, API management, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ability to design and document complex technical solutions while optimising performance and cost.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a passion for mentoring teams.
- Proficient in DevOps, CI/CD, Agile processes, and using Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools to develop complex stored procedures and reports for SSRS.
