About the Role
Thales Cyber Services is seeking a full-time Senior Network Engineer-Architect to join our team based in Australia. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for creating scalable, secure, and reliable network solutions, ensuring high performance and adaptability to future technological advancements. You will collaborate closely with other business teams to align network systems with business needs and strategic goals.
In this hands-on operational role the successful candidate will be expected to understand the physical and logical design of our complex networks, along with capacity management for any future growth.
The role will be based in Sydney and will require the successful applicant to undergo an Australian Police check. Australian citizenship is required along with willingness to complete NV1 security clearance.
You will be asked to:
Design high-level network architecture for Data Centre & Cloud technologies.
Develop and document network topology, configuration, and security standards.
Evaluate and implement solutions for scalability, security, and performance improvements.
Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices in alignment with architecture plans.
Ensure that network solutions support business continuity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Implement and monitor network security solutions.
Develop network policies and procedures to ensure secure access to network resources.
Monitor network performance to identify issues and opportunities for enhancement.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including outages and degradations.
Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configuration settings, and network management policies.
Provide technical guidance and training to Network Engineers and support staff.
Engage with vendors and suppliers to evaluate new networking products and services.
Provide operational and on-call support
Provide pre-sales support as needed and identify leads in partnership with Sales
Own, understand, and articulate technical information around security practices, standards and cybersecurity, identifying risks and suggested improvements to support business operations.
About You
With strong commercial acumen, you will ideally be tertiary qualified in Networking, Computer Science or a relevant discipline. As an experienced Senior Network Engineer Architect, preferably within data centre infrastructure, you will also bring:
Solid experience across Cisco, Arista, Juniper, FortiGate and Palo Alto platforms.
A strong background in networking and security with a deep understanding of advance routing, switching, firewalls and security concepts.
Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive tasks and use CI/CD where appropriate.
Current vendor or industry certifications such as CCIE, CISSP or CISM is essential.
Solid understanding of the networking technologies such as LAN/ VxLAN/ EVPN and routing protocols such as BGP & OSPF including inter-DC networking.
Knowledge of ITIL methodologies would be beneficial.
Exceptional communication skills to articulate concepts to diverse stakeholder groups including non-technical
Understanding of utilisation goals and ability to proactively manage to the desired outcome.
Strong understanding of arrangements for small to large projects and able to demonstrate value of service offerings to clients.
Ability to articulate desired state outcomes for clients and the ROI delivered through engagements
Collaborative, team-focused and outcome driven approach, with an ongoing emphasis on learning and continuous improvement
