Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior AWS Cloud Security Architect to join our expert team in Sydney. In this crucial role, you'll be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and optimizing comprehensive security solutions across complex AWS landscapes. You'll champion security best practices, enable secure digital transformations, and empower our clients to confidently navigate and mitigate cloud risks.

Qualifications

  • Security Architecture & Frameworks: Develop and maintain robust AWS security architectures guided by the AWS Well-Architected Framework's Security Pillar, translating best practices into concrete design patterns and foundational guardrails.

  • Secure Landing Zones: Design multi-account AWS landing zones leveraging AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK) to embed critical guardrails for identity, logging, and network segmentation from inception.

  • Threat Modeling & Risk Assessment: Facilitate high-impact architecture workshops and threat-modeling sessions to proactively identify, prioritize, and architect effective mitigations for top cloud security risks.

  • Roadmaps & Reference Architectures: Craft long-term security roadmaps and reusable reference architectures that align with industry-leading standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and ASD Essential 8.

  • AWS Security Service Integration: Evaluate and architect sophisticated solutions leveraging core AWS security services including AWS IAM, AWS KMS, AWS CloudTrail, Amazon GuardDuty, AWS Security Hub, and strategic partner tools to build cohesive, automated security controls.

  • Mentorship & Enablement: Mentor engineering teams on "secure-by-design" principles, embedding security automation and guardrails directly into CI/CD pipelines and broader cloud transformation initiatives.

  • Client Advisory & Communication: Serve as the go-to security Subject Matter Expert (SME) in client engagements, adeptly presenting complex security concepts, architectural trade-offs, and compliance strategies to both highly technical and executive audiences.

  • Continuous Improvement & IP Development: Stay at the forefront of evolving AWS security services and the threat landscape, actively contribute to internal communities of practice, and develop valuable intellectual property (methodologies, accelerators) to enhance our AWS security offerings.

What You Bring:

  • Extensive, hands-on experience designing and implementing complex, enterprise-grade security solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Deep functional and technical knowledge across the AWS security ecosystem.

  • Proven expertise in secure cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, network security, data protection, and security operations.

  • Strong understanding of leading security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, ASD Essential 8).

  • Demonstrable experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.

  • A track record of leading threat modeling and risk assessment activities.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise diverse stakeholders.

  • A proactive, analytical mindset with a passion for continuous learning and innovation in cloud cybersecurity.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03) is required; AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional is highly regarded.
