Lead ecosystem-level GTM, shape protocol narrative, and drive on-chain growth (TVL, active addresses, developer adoption). Scale developer programs (grants, hackathons), transition marketing to decentralized community governance, and measure ROI using on-chain and wallet-behavior analytics while owning cross-functional alignment with product, community, and BD.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role for a seasoned Web3 marketer ready to move beyond brand-building and own the full go-to-market function at the ecosystem level. The CMO will shape protocol narrative, drive on-chain growth, and transition the marketing org into a decentralized, community-led engine — with direct accountability for TVL, active addresses, and developer adoption.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute GTM strategies that align developer, validator, and end-user incentives to drive TVL and on-chain activity
- Own protocol positioning — establishing the project as the de facto standard in its niche by translating complex technical primitives into high-impact narratives for both institutional and retail audiences
- Evolve the marketing function from audience-building to ecosystem governance, enabling contributors and community members to act as decentralized brand evangelists
- Define and track marketing ROI through on-chain analytics and wallet-behavior data — moving beyond vanity metrics to measure active addresses, retention, and protocol stickiness
Requirements
- 7+ years in high-growth tech, with a minimum of 3 years leading marketing for a Layer 1, Layer 2, DeFi protocol, or major blockchain ecosystem
- Demonstrated success scaling a developer ecosystem, including ownership of grant programs, hackathons, and incentive design
- Strong technical fluency across EVM/non-EVM dynamics, cross-chain interoperability, and tokenomics — comfortable holding strategic conversations with CTOs and Lead Architects
- Proven ability to operate at the C-suite level with cross-functional ownership across product, community, and BD
Nice to Have
- Background in RWA, modular rollup infrastructure, or ZK-based systems
- Existing relationships within the institutional DeFi or Web3 VC community
