Coastal Engineer

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including; defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). Exposure to these different industries will allow you to rapidly develop and gain valuable experience you wouldn't get anywhere else. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.

While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

This role will see you leveraging your existing coastal engineering experience, whether that be modelling, dredging or coastal protection, to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. There will also be opportunities to grow your leadership and business developments skills as you will be assisting with project management and proposal tasks.

Who are you?

Our Coastal Engineers typically have between 2 and 5 years experience with the following skills and experience:

  • An interest or experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, dredging)
  • Experience or an interest to learn coastal modelling software (desirable skillset: DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE)
  • An interest or experience working with the local governments, port clients and/or the Defence sector
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and guidelines
  • Working towards your Chartered Professional Engineer credentials
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance

Don't meet every requirement? That's OK. We are growing our team with a range of diverse and varied professionals. If you don't meet the experience above, but still think you can contribute to the team, we encourage you to apply and have a chat to us.
