The Commercial Analyst is responsible for investigating and analysing complex data sets to ensure the accuracy and integrity of customer contracts, billing, and associated third-party supplier costs. This role is critical to identifying discrepancies, validating commercial terms, and supporting the integrity of both revenue and cost. The analyst collaborates closely with Commercial, Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Product & Architecture, and Service Delivery teams to provide analytical support and commercial insights to the commercial team — aimed at driving key event outcomes, ensuring compliance, and enhancing revenue and cost assurance processes through continuous improvement.
 
This position is suitable for candidates with min. 5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis who are looking to transition into a commercial role.

What you'll be doing

  • Investigate and analyse complex data sets and perform end-to-end commercial assurance processes to identify anomalies, gaps, or leakages.
  • Perform validation and reconciliation of third-party supplier costs and contract alignment.
  • Cross reference with linked customer services and products to minimise profit gaps between cost of delivery and billing of those customer services.
  • Audit customer service, pricing, and contract terms based on trigger events
  • Audit cost of sale to ensure correct cost allocations amongst BU’s and correct recharges by vendors for maintenance, support and licensing.
  • Assist the Commercial Operations Specialist to identify Key Event opportunities
  • Streamline and automate assurance processes and controls to minimise end-user effort and maximize the timeliness and accuracy of output.
  • Thorough resolution of customer disputes or issues, whilst working with stakeholders to resolve and eliminate root causes
  • Increase Assurance Control scope by following the Risk control matrix and
  • Identify issues and areas of potential revenue leakage and exposure in current business processes and/or systems.
  • Manage Cloud Services related ETC (Early Termination Charge) matters
  • Assist in projects involving process redesign, system improvements, and automation to ensure revenue accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
  • Assist in mapping processes and documentation to enable automation of manual functions as directed.
  • Deliver regular reports, dashboards, and insights to senior management

Your ideal skills and experience

  • Tertiary degree in accounting, commerce, business, or a related area
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in data analysis, commercial or financial analyst roles
  • Advanced Excel and SQL skills is essential
  • Background in IT, Cloud Services, Hosting or underlying technologies
  • Understanding of P&L
  • Experience in dashboard reporting (Power BI) would be an advantage
