Job Description

As our Commercial Director you’ll provide expertise and leadership to the Commercial Managers across various Hyperscale Data Centre projects. You’ll ultimately be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of development projects. This role ensures commercial integrity, cost efficiency, and strategic procurement across all phases of construction.  

 

In this role you’ll work with project team members and collaborate with internal stakeholders, principal contractors, consultants, and vendors to manage budgets, contracts, risk, and commercial performance aligned with NEXTDC’s strategic objectives. 

 

You’ll be responsible for the following areas:

 

  • Culture and Leadership 
  • Commercial Planning and Strategy 
  • Contract Management
  • Cost Management 
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Stakeholder Engagement

 

Qualifications

Your proven commercial experience will see you bringing:

  • 10+ years’ experience in commercial management within construction or infrastructure sectors
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Professional certifications in commercial or project management (e.g., MRICS, PMP, AIQS)
  • Experience with principal contractors or client-side commercial leadership preferred
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Deep understanding of Australian construction regulations, procurement frameworks, and authority approvals
  • Advanced negotiation, contract administration, and financial analysis capabilities
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
