Job Description

The Commercial and Procurement Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the commercial and procurement strategy for a nationally significant infrastructure program delivered through an Integrated Delivery Partner (IDP) model. This role manages the commercial relationship with the client, ensuring alignment with client outcomes and objectives, compliance with regulatory frameworks, driving industry best practices, driving mutual value, positive impact, collaboration, commercial integration and standardization through contracts and where applicable, client supply chain delivery and contract performance management.

How you’ll make a difference

Commercial Strategy & Governance

  • Develop strategic market analysis and coordinate strategic delivery model assessments (formerly “make/do/buy” process), to develop the optimum commercial delivery model for the program.
  • Develop and implement a robust outcome based commercial and relational contracting strategy aligned with program goals including a positive impact strategy for the planet and a flourishing society.

Procurement

  • Lead the full procurement lifecycle including optimum delivery model, planning, early market engagement, sourcing and tendering, commercial evaluation, contract negotiation, award and post award contract and value management.

Contract Management

  • Oversee contract drafting, ensuring scope and goals are clear and executable, and enable digital contract management, with proof of payment on application.
  • Manage all contract changes, ensure commercial value controls are in place to mitigate risk, waste, interface and integration among and between contracts, all pain and gain-share mechanisms, all payments, all costs, all variations and amendments, claims, and dispute avoidance and resolution processes.

Business Development

  • Shape commercial positions in pursuits; conduct competitor/market analysis to inform strategy.
  • Extend existing contracts and frameworks where feasible; enable cross-selling.

Qualifications

  • Degree in quantity surveying, commerce, law or related field.
  • 10–15+ years’ commercial/contract management experience in consulting or infrastructure.
  • Professional membership or legal/commercial accreditation desirable.
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
  • Expertise in contract law and administration; negotiation and claims management.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
