Position Description - Communications Specialist

Boeing Australia is seeking a Communications Specialist to work as part of a global, dynamic, fast-paced Communications team. The position is located in Melbourne.

In this role, the successful candidate will support our Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA) manufacturing facility in Fishermans Bend; BAA is part of Boeing Fabrication, an internal supplier of Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) components. Key responsibilities include working with the managing director and senior leadership team on critical site-wide communications that support business objectives, writing stories for internal and external audiences about BAA’s people and capabilities, and supporting Enterprise Agreement communications activities. Ongoing coordination with U.S.-based teammates is important for alignment.

You may also be asked to promote our Australian supply chain story across our Boeing Australia subsidiaries. You will work with Boeing supply chain focals and communicators, business leaders, external suppliers to tell a cohesive and integrated story.

In addition to supporting BAA and Supply Chain, this role will also support storytelling for our upcoming Boeing Australia 100 years campaign in 2027. This may include development of external articles or videos, media pitches or other employee-focused communications content relating to our 100-year history.

Communications content to plan and produce includes but is not limited to internal stories and messages, external web stories, social media posts, news releases, and videos that highlight our people, products and commitment to manufacturing and our Australian supply chain. Pitching reporters about Boeing’s Australian manufacturing capability and supply chain should lead to neutral-to-positive articles in local/national/trade outlets.

The role will report to the Boeing Australia Communications Senior Manager, with alignment to Fabrication Communications in the US.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in PR/Communications and/or a related field.
  • Approximately seven to ten years’ experience in corporate communications within a large complex organisation, with demonstrated experience in employee communications and media relations.
  • Provide communications consulting skills, including ability to coach and prepare senior executives for internal and external engagements, including media.
  • Have top-notch organization skills, be a self-starter and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects at one time, while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and media skills, along with the interpersonal skills needed to work in a complex, matrixed organisation.
  • High level organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel interstate to fulfil work requirements as required.
  • Flexibility to attend video / team meetings outside of normal 9-5 working hours to support various time zones.
