Spotify is looking for a culturally fluent, strategically sharp, and creatively driven Communications Lead for Australia and New Zealand (AUNZ) to shape and share our story across the region. In this role, you'll lead the full spectrum of communications — consumer, corporate, trade, internal, and industry — with a focus on integrated, audience-first storytelling.
You'll operate in a dynamic, global environment, collaborating across time zones, teams, and business functions. You'll work seamlessly with Spotify's global teams while staying deeply embedded in the AUNZ business, ensuring that our voice in the market is culturally relevant, locally resonant, and aligned with both local impact and global strategy.
This role is based in Sydney, and reports to the Asia Pacific Head of Communications, based in Singapore.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy for AUNZ with a clear focus on elevating local creators across every channel and audience
  • Act as the bridge between local priorities and global direction - plugged into Spotify's global comms network and ensuring AUNZ's voice is heard and aligned
  • Champion the AUNZ creator economy across all facets of communications - from consumer and industry to internal and executive messaging
  • Ensure Spotify's communications reflect our impact on the cultural and creative landscape of Australia and New Zealand
  • Champion and protect Spotify's brand in AUNZ, ensuring it remains visible, desirable, and relevant to local audiences
  • Lead earned-first, creator-centric campaigns that drive fandom, discovery, and loyalty
  • Collaborate with content, marketing, and editorial teams to consistently spotlight homegrown artists, podcasters, and authors.
  • Work with creators, tastemakers, and Spotify's own channels to grow cultural relevance and audience connection
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with industry organisations, cultural institutions, and community partners across AUNZ
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure communications genuinely reflect Spotify's commitment to the local creator ecosystem
  • Represent Spotify's creator-first values in industry forums and through external partnerships
  • Lead internal, corporate, executive, and B2B communications - ensuring clarity, creativity, and consistency across every message
  • Partner closely with teams across Content, Marketing, Ad Sales and Leadership to support business goals and reinforce our impact in the market
  • Drive internal communications that connect teams, foster culture, and keep AUNZ visible across the global Spotify ecosystem.
  • Support executive visibility with high-impact messaging, media engagement, and thought leadership
  • Manage PR agency relationships with precision and creativity - delivering aligned, effective, and high-quality output

Who You Are

  • You have at least 12+ years of experience in communications, with a proven track record leading integrated campaigns across consumer, corporate, and industry contexts, ideally within music, media, tech, entertainment, or adjacent cultural sectors
  • Experienced in navigating complex, matrixed environments  - you thrive in global organisations where proactive communication, cross-functional alignment, and stakeholder transparency are essential to success
  • A strategic thinker and adaptable storyteller, fluent in earned media, executive comms, creator engagement, and integrated channel planning - tailoring narratives for multiple audiences and platforms
  • Creator-first and culturally fluent - you deeply understand the role creators play in shaping culture, and know how to elevate their voices through brand storytelling, platform-native campaigns, and creator partnerships
  • Curious and future-facing - you're thinking about how the evolving media landscape will reshape communications and storytelling
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and executive communications, with the gravitas to advise senior leaders and the agility to respond quickly in fast-moving or high-stakes situations
  • A connector and low-ego collaborator - you build trust across teams, communicate clearly, and work cross-functionally to align around shared goals
  • Well-connected in the AUNZ media, creator, and cultural communities, with a strong understanding of the local landscape and creative industries
  • Genuinely passionate about the role music, podcasting, and storytelling play in culture - energised by the opportunity to champion local creators and connect them with audiences around the world
  • A thoughtful and creative manager of agency partnerships and budgets, with a sharp eye for value, quality, and execution - able to brief clearly, push for bold thinking, and deliver smart, efficient results

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in Sydney, Australia
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
